The Best Lingerie Colors for Your Skin Tone
The right color of lingerie can make or break your entire look when you take skin undertones into consideration.
Skin undertones does not necessarily pertain to how tan you are, but rather the hue that your skin is.
Undertones range from warm tones, cool tones, and neutral. There are even some colors that everyone can pull off! (Completely foolproof!)
How to determine your undertone:
It’s easy to find your undertone -- first, find some white contrast. For example, hold onto a white bra, shirt, or a strip of paper. Using a mirror, hold that same object near your face in the sunlight.
(Lightbulbs can cast warm or cool tones themselves and can throw off your results. For best results, natural light is best.)
Warm undertones would include yellow, or olive colors, and golden hues.
Cool undertones cast colors like rose, blue or pink.
Neutral Undertones, the fillers like greys, though not unloved.
If you are a warm undertone, rich colors like bright blue, oranges, and earthtones like green, brown, and mustard yellow are perfect for you.
Fall is predicted to your favorite season for colors. In the Summer and Spring, stick to bright colors.
Unlike your fellow warm-toned friends, it's recommend that you avoid electric and bold colors, such as yellows. Instead, opt for jewel tones like violet, emerald, and if you must yellow, make it soft.
You are part of the group that black looks exceptional on!! Like a desert landscape, you can swing off-whites, browns, and greys.
Colors For Everyone
Have you ever owned (or still own) a garment similar to “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”? Some article of clothing that happened to look phenomenal on everyone you knew?
White is a color for all! Like any color, even whites can have hues that are more yellow or blue. If a certain “white” doesn’t seem to do you justice, it may have a tinge of its own undertone opposite of yours.
Other colors like deep purples (and the right shade of teal) look great on anybody. The color of blush pink may be feminine, though it will bring out the roseyness of your cheeks.
There are so many ways to explore color combinations for your personal look. Consider your eye or hair color. Choosing the right lingerie colors for your eyes can really send any onlooker wild!
Seasons change and so should your wardrobe and lingerie drawer (hello bikini cuts!). Think dark tones for winter and light/ bright colors for warmer months.
Above all, if you don’t feel comfortable or a color doesn’t bring happiness, then get the one that does! The lingerie you wear is for YOU.
